Article #16 - How do Limited and Unlimited DVD Rental Packages Compare

Here we take a look at the differnece between unlimited and limited DVD rental packages. Whats the best type of dvd rental package?

Traditionally DVD rental packages have been sold on an unlimited basis. That is you can rent and watch as many DVD's per month as you can possibly squeeze in. DVD rental packages are sold as either 1, 2, 3 or more DVD's posted to you at a time. As soon as you post them back, the DVD rental company will post the next batch, and so on. These are the unlimited dvd rental packages.

More recently the dvd rental companies have started selling limited or pay as you go dvd rental packages. These are similar to unlimited dvd rental packages in that you can receive 1, 2 or more DVD's at a time, but you are limited to the number of DVD's you cvan watch a month.

So which DVD rental package is better - unlimited or limited dvd rental? Well, like many questions, it depends. It depends on two things, budget and amount of time spent watching dvd's. If your not budget conscious and you are a movie animal then the unlimited dvd rental packages are best. Even on a 1 dvd at a time basis, if the post service is kind you could watch upto 3 a week or 12 dvd's per month. So from Lovefilm that would mean just 81.5p per dvd rental. Thats amazing value by any standards.

However if uou are on a budget or dont have a massive amount of time to watch dvd's, then tthe limited or pay as you go dvd rental packages may make sense. For example, Lovefilm pay as you go dvd rental starts at just £3.91 per month for 2 dvd's a month. This allows you manage your budget but works out at £1.95 for dvd rental.

So, if you a movie monster and likely to spend many hours enjoying dvd's, then an unlimited dvd rental package is best for you. If you only have time for say 2 or 4 dvd's per month, then go for the limited or pay as you go dvd rental services.
