Article #6 - Why Rent DVD's Online
Apart from the pure simplicity and convenience online DVD rental offers over the high street rental alternative, renting DVD’s online can save you money – and that’s a good thing!
I admit DVD’s aren’t the most expensive things in the world to buy, but if you’re a keen movie or series watcher, then owning everything you want to watch would cost you a small fortune. That's where DVD rental comes into play – you can have your ‘fix’, then simply give the DVD back, and at a fraction of the price.
Online DVD Rental has been hugely successful in the UK and there now a wealth of online DVD rental providers, each offering a number of packages to cater for everyone’s viewing needs. With so many companies to choose from, how do you make your decision?
How do you Rent DVDs online
Renting DVDs online couldn’t be easier. You simply sign up online, search through their DVD titles listed on their website and click on the ones you'd like to see in a list. You priorities your film queue and in turn they are then posted out to, roughly in the order you selected. You then watch the DVD’s as they arrive and post them back in their post paid envelopes.
Typically there’s no limit to how long you can keep each film and no late charges. Remember though, the longer you keep your film, the bigger the gap before you get your next one. The more you watch each month, the better value for money for you. Most DVD rental companies also offer a free trial. So what’s to loose – try it for free and if you don’t like it, cancel!
So How many DVD’s will you watch each Month?
This is of course the most important question you need to ask yourself before choosing a DVD Rental company. Whether or not you get value for money depends largely on how many films you can actually watch in any given month. So how many DVD’s can you watch a month? Well, it depends upon a number of things including (i) how quickly you watch the DVD after receiving it, (ii) how quickly you get it back into the return post, (iii) how quickly the postal service gets it back to the online provider, (iv) how quickly the online provider registers its return and allocates your next selected DVD, and (v) how quickly the postal service delivers it to you.
While you can’t control all of these unknowns our experience has been that if you select the one DVD at a time package, and you watch the DVD and return it the same day, you can receive three DVD’s a week or twelve a month. This means, that if you pay £9.99 per month then the average price for each DVD you watches is just 83 pence – now that’s great value. Not everyone will be able to watch and return so quickly but its still a good price if you watch less DVD’s a month. For example, two DVD’s a week works out at £1.24 per DVD and one DVD a week works out at £2.49.
So which should you pick?
As you can probably tell, there are a lot of options out there. What's more, prices are pretty comparable, with unlimited options typically costing £9.99/month for one disc at a time, £12.99 for two and £14.99 for three etc. If do nothing else but watch DVD’s there’s also packagaes that provide 5 DVD’s at a time!
With the range of Online DVD Rental companies and packages ever changing, we thing you should consider a number of factors when choosing who to go for:
Number of Titles: A provider with an extensive range of titles to choose from is a must if you want you next DVD to arrive quickly;
Simply Website: Ease of navigation around the site is also important, you need to review your account, find titles to watch and read reviews quickly and simply;
Customer Service: Service is another ‘must have factor’. If it all goes wrong, you know you need to be treated fairly - after all, there's little point paying for an unlimited package if DVD turnaround is two or more days.
Our Five Star guide has taken all these factors into consideration and more, so you don’t have to!
Free Trials
Don’t forget to make the most of the FREE tiral offer. Most dvd rental companies off a completely free trial. There really are no obligations and no catches – so try each DVD rental company before making you final choice.
